About the Project:
The C-Carbs Study is a novel research initiative aimed at supporting adults with poorly controlled type 1 diabetes (T1D) who are unable or prefer not to count carbohydrates. Our goal is to develop and evaluate a novel Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)-guided carbohydrate awareness program.
Rather than relying on traditional carbohydrate counting, this program teaches participants to use real-time CGM feedback to understand how different foods affect their blood glucose and to guide mealtime insulin adjustments accordingly. This approach is designed to be more accessible and practical for individuals across a wide range of literacy and numeracy levels.
Funding: The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program (AMFDP)
