As insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) become standard in type 1 diabetes (T1D) care, automated insulin delivery (AID) systems are transforming how individuals manage their condition. While these technologies offer clear clinical benefits, less is known about their impact on the daily lives and emotional well-being of people with T1D.
This study, conducted in collaboration with Dr. Lauren Wisk, combines survey data with electronic health records to explore the psychosocial experiences of youth using diabetes devices. We examine how technology shapes daily routines, social interactions, and perceptions of living with diabetes. By looking beyond glycemic outcomes, this research aims to deepen our understanding of the real-life impact of diabetes technology and identify ways to better support patients in using these tools effectively.
